Joseph H. Bretton, Principal

Mr. Bretton is a Principal of SBCC Group where he leads the Marketing Communications practice. He advises a broad array of companies on how to define, communicate, and sell an organization’s value proposition, employing an approach that builds dialogue, creates value, and ultimately delivers relationships to an organization. Mr. Bretton especially works with clients in information-rich, information-intensive, and information-dependent industries including hedge funds, fintech and technology-enabled healthcare and retail.

Mr. Bretton has extensive experience spanning traditional to digital marketing communication strategies from branding and message development to logo and website design. He has worked for, and consulted with, many Fortune 100 companies including Citigroup, Prudential, IBM, State Farm Insurance, BMW, and Arbitration Forums Inc. While at Arbitration Forums, he was successful in ‘consumerizing’ the concept of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) which was later adopted and popularized in mainstream media; most notably the ‘Peoples Court’ television show.

Prior to joining SBCC Group, Mr. Bretton was Marketing Manager for TUV Rheinland Group of North America, designing and spearheading innovative campaigns for scientific and technology-dependent products. Prior to that he developed highly successful marketing strategies for companies such as Prudential Real Estate, and Sunrise Assisted Living.

Mr. Bretton began his career as a reporter and radio show host for CBS news and has a BBA and MBA from the Robert O. Anderson School of Management.
